new gear
got the blichmann brewmometer installed. can't wait to put it to use.
received a second home depot 10 gallon cooler for the ol' bday. no more juggling equipment around, this baby will be a permanent hot liquor tank once we get the ball valve installed.
the amber scii is amazing. i filled my glass, took a few sips, and was already filling my glass again. this is one delicious amber. a very balanced hop/malt ratio. if i remember correctly, we ended up using 6oz of 8.7% cascade. next time we make this i'm going to drop the grain bill down a bit, hopefully to hit around a 4% abv. with how drinkable this beer is, the current 5.7% abv is way too dangerous. new glasses from the merrill's ftw!

double racking
we did some double racking yesterday. racked 10 gallons of brewyah stout from secondary to kegs. we also taste tested it, had a dry finish and bitchin flavor. we then racked the broadzilla returns from primary to secondary. we also tasted this one. the beer itself looks fucked up, but it tasted great. it had a great malt flavor followed by a delayed but intense hop bitterness that kicks you in the throat. we also broke down 1 lb of cascade leaf hops into 2oz ziplock/freezer vacuum sealed baggies. first things first, we cracked open the amber. this beer won't last long. its delicious. color looks great.
1 lb of cascade leaf hops, 8.7% AA
